Learn fire department organization, fire alarms and communications equipment, the behavior of fire and types, use of portable fire extinguishers, infection control procedures, basic first aid as a first responder including CPR. Detect presence of hazardous materials. Learn fire prevention inspection procedures, the use of fire equipment such as the bunker suit, respirator, and hand tools in directed rescue situations. Participate in an application of building burn. Completion of this course allows articulation to any community college in Florida equal to up to 3-4 credit hours.
