Campus Safety and Security

Campus Safety and Security Policies

Charlotte Technical Center (CTC) is an integral part of the communities it serves and shares the same concern about crime. It is everyone’s responsibility to be concerned about the safety and well-being of the students, staff, and visitors. All reasonable measures will be taken to protect anyone on the CTC campus. Any unsafe condition should be reported. The Center will not tolerate any type of disruptive or inappropriate behavior that interferes with their primary educational mission. CTC complies with state and federal laws which prohibit the sale, use or possession of alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, or weapons on campus. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Department and the Florida Highway Patrol have law enforcement jurisdiction on CTC’s campus.

BE ALERT AND AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS AT ALL TIMES!

Everyone’s Concern

In order to assure that the safety and security plan works, every student, staff member, and visitor must follow these precautions:

  • Do not loiter in the parking lot
  • Always lock your car
  • Keep personal property secured
  • Be patient and drive carefully in and out of the parking lot
  • Do not engage in any activity that might cause you harm or endanger another person
  • If you are a victim, intended victim, or a witness to a crime, report it immediately to an Administrator. Be prepared to give your name, a brief description of the incident, the location, a description of possible suspects and/or vehicles involved
  • During evening sessions, try to walk with a partner if you must be in an isolated or unlighted area

Sexual Harassment

Each program instructor at CTC covers the subject of sexual harassment during the orientation to class. Videotapes depicting examples of harassment at school or on the job are available for class viewing. An Administrator serves as the coordinator of sexual harassment complaints. Each incident is handled in a private, sensitive manner. Students who cannot abide by the general policies of the Center are withdrawn. Instructors at CTC are updated at the beginning of each school year with important information on procedures for dealing with any sexual offenses.
