The Automotive Service Technology Program is a participant in the Automotive Youth Education System (AYES). It has earned certification status in the appropriate AYES service areas from the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) which is the Educational Division of the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). Instruction includes use of appropriate technical service information, proper and safe use of hand and power tools as well as specialized test equipment, diagnosis of malfunctions, disassembly of units, inspection, repair and/or replacement of parts, basic shop skills and services, steering, suspension, and wheel service, brakes, electrical systems service, and engine performance. A basic set of tools will be provided for dual enrolled students. Student accident insurance is required. As students enter each service area, they will be given a list of necessary tools specific to that area. Students in the second year of the program may qualify for paid internships with our local dealership partners. Students must complete all pre-requistes for consideration in the AYES program. Completion of the full 1800 hour curriculum course allows articulation to any community college in Florida equal to 19 credit hours (after passing ASE Exams).
